“Parallaxerror” an exhibition presented in collaboration between TDPK Studio and Madskills,
featuring works by Fartboil and A Kid From Yesterday
“Parallaxerror” opens a break in how we perceive things, revealing the fragility of what we take as truth. A Kid From Yesterday and Fartboil explore illusions that shape reality that objects and ideas shifting, warping, and misleading depending on the angle. Inspired by astronomical parallax, they use overlapping perspectives to expose human blind spots and spark an “error,” a pause where we question what we see or cling to comforting illusions.
Instead of closure, “Parallaxerror” deepens the tension, challenging the structures we live by and the roles we perform. It asks whether the beliefs grounding our world are fragile illusions, ready to collapse with a shift in view.
Through layered images and subtle twists, the exhibition invites us to question how flexible truth can be and to see error as a path to clearer vision. It calls us to look closer, doubt the obvious, and explore the gaps where perception unravels.
About artist
Somphon Ratanavaree, also known as A Kid From Yesterday (@a.kidfromyesterday), began his artistic journey as a graphic designer within the world of fashion. His creative endeavours were heavily influenced by iconic cartoons from Looney Tunes and Nickelodeon shows, resulting in a distinctive style and a cast of unique characters that grace his paintings.
The artist’s name pays homage to the song ‘The Kids From Yesterday’ by My Chemical Romance. The lyrics reflect his perpetual quest for growth and knowledge. The narrative and visual language of his works emerged from the painful loss of his mother, which became the catalyst for his creative expression. Finding solace through his illustrations as a means to grieve and heal.
Siwakorn Pimsakulanon, or Fartboil (@fartboil), has a background in architecture and design, working across illustration and painting. He is fascinated by how images can convey emotions, ideas, and provoke deep questions about the world around us.
In this body of work, he explores paradoxical or transgressive behaviors in society, as well as the nature of humanity, confusion, and the fragility that underlies contemporary life. These themes emerge through gestures, expressions, and objects surrounding slightly fantastical characters. Each piece resists fixed interpretation, instead inviting viewers to bring their own experiences and perspectives. For him, art is more about asking questions than offering clear answers.
