If you are already in Thailand, the application process is handled through the Thailand Board of Investment (BOI), and the LTR Visa Thailand can be issued after approval without requiring you to leave the country, provided your current stay status allows it.
How the In-Country Application Process Works (BOI Guidelines)Applying for an LTR Visa while staying in Thailand is a streamlined, digital-first process managed by the BOI:
- Online Application & Qualifications Endorsement: Submit your application and required supporting documents online through the official BOI LTR Visa portal (ltr.boi.go.th). The qualification endorsement check typically takes around 20 working days.
- Select Visa Issuance Location: Once your qualifications are endorsed, select "Issuance in Thailand" in the system. Upload your current entry stamps, travel details (TDAC), and Notification of Residence (TM 30).
- Visa Issuance in Bangkok: After pre-approval, you can book an appointment to collect your 10-year LTR Visa directly at the Thailand Investment and Expat Services Center (TIESC) for Visa and Work Permit located in Bangkok.
- Digital Work Permit Application: If you hold an eligible LTR Visa category that permits local employment, you can apply for your digital work permit via the same BOI system right after visa issuance.
